Hey IBYers,
We’ve been changing a lot recently and we’re excited to announce some big changes to how Text Competitions look and feel today!
For instance, check out this Its all Fun and Games Until competition.
Changes include:
- Easier reading - Just scroll down the page; no clicking required.
- Easier voting - You can quickly scroll down the page (again, no clicking to see the next entry) and vote or comment along the way.
- Pictures look better - You can mouse over the picture in each entry for a closeup. Or you can click on the entry itself (on its title or text) to see the large version of the picture.
- Easier to read comments - To see the comments for an entry, just click on the entry title or text itself. All the comments are displayed on a separate page (no need to click any tabs).
- Easier to enter - Now it’s even easier to enter a text competition. We got rid of the description field, because…er…it didn’t make sense to describe your text entry with more text. So that means less typing for you!
- Copy and paste text easily - Another side benefit is that you can copy and paste text from each entry.

UPDATE on 8/29/2009:
Thanks for everyone’s spirited and passionate feedback! We’ve adjusted text competitions to address your biggest concerns:
- You now see 10 entries per page instead of 4
- The pagination links have been expanded to show 10 page links and allow you to skip to the top or bottom in one click
- We’ve added TurboVoting back in! When you click Turbovote, you are taken to the next entry after each and every vote!

As you know, I don’t like this, no turbovoting, people will get lazy to look at the other pages, especially if it’s a tag competition AkA a big text comp, with lots of entries, so it’s moreless the people who are 1-4 will win since nobody wants to look for the others.. please.. have this new look but ina original way, with it all on one page and turbovotes are a must.. sigh… most wood appreciate it. xox

I agree with Nadia, no one is gonna look past the first page, people are lazy and really dont care, I do not like the payout, why you changed it is beyond me, please change it back, it worked.

IDEA! How about you guys somehow create an option for us to use the new option, and use the old option, that way everybody gets what they want? I think that’s a great idea! :] a win-win situation yaH?

I HATE THE NEW TXT COMP LAYOUT!!! CHANGE IT BACK!!!
And here’s an idea, instead of trying to fix things that aren’t broken why don’t you guys work on stuff that needs fixing. Just a thought.

I’m sorry but I don’t like the new look. Now it’s gonna take longer for me to look at all the entries as I switch through the pages. The old look was better when I easily could navigate through them in 1 page. You don’t need to try to bring better layouts, IBY looks great as it is. However I like how it’s easier to read comments.

uhhh…i dont like it =/ its too confusing and i agree with everyone else that ppl will b too lazy to look past the first four entries. I dont really have any suggestions but i liked the old one better…

i don’t like.
it’s trying to be to fancy and new, and now people are going to be lazy asses and not look at all entries or bother seeing what other people entered and won’t vote if say your entry is on the like 3rd page.

This new layout is gonna take some gettin used to. i prefer the old layout… it was far less complicated. and what is with the fact that you can only see 4 entries at a time?! The majority of people i have talked to don’t like the new layout… i would change it back

LAME! LAME! LAME! Text comps are LAME now cause you guys ruined the layout thingy. I can’t view other people’s entries, i have to press all these damn buttons! Before i just clicked ‘next’. This is complicated. And once again LAME! LAME idea. LAME layout. LAME text. LAME cause it ain’t easy! Please change it please!

woah whack attack! the other layout is MUCH BETTER &less complicated. so basically the first 4 entries will win fo sho since no body is gonna be looking at the other pages.
But as always, team iBY will just ignore our demands and dislikes and just keeps things just they are. i know people are always -ve when team iby makes changes, but this actually bad, its legit bad! prolly the worst move by team iby. sorry guys, just bring the old one back. &BESIDES, the txt layout does fit the picture&video layout, it feels like im on a blogging site

Can I just ask, is there any point to us leaving this feedback? Those of us who are opposing the new format don’t just hate it, we LOATHE it. What more do we have to do to get the message through?!
Also, most of us are the people who are on IBY everyday, not peewees who stay for a few weeks hoping Jess Alba will answer their smack talk. The old format worked for us, this doesn’t.
I no longer create or view text comps because I can’t stand this format. Maybe the others like me will eventually get used to it, but I don’t see why it can’t go back to what worked for everyone.

Really glad turbo-voting is back! Really nice job, and I also love that it tells you how many comments have been made on each of the entries. Maybe that is an option for picture competitions aswell?

i really dont like, i mean i dont even vote for text competitions now , cuz its so comlicated, i hate it. i agree with the person who said that this layout may work for peewee’s and stuff, but for us like the iby pro and + its too complicated
