Sonic booms, iPhone, quizzes and text entry updates! Huzzah!

Hey everyone,

It’s Friday, and the whole ibeatyou crew in the office was already excited to be starting the weekend shortly.  Then, we heard a HUGE SONIC BOOM from the Space Shuttle landing at Edwards Air Force base; it came out of nowhere.  The office was achatter with everyone talking excitedly about it for several minutes….until I made a dorky comment about Guile fighting Dhalsim in Street Fighter.  Then it got real quiet. (insert cricket sounds here).

Anyways, we’re excited to talk about the latest updates to ibeatyou.  Here are some updates we pushed this week:

Mobile iPhone site

• Mobile site for the iPhone - Many of you have been asking how you can view ibeatyou more easily on the iPhone. Thanks to our intern, melofelow we now have a mobile ibeatyou site that is optimized for the iPhone!  Chris (melofellow’s fake name) worked hard this summer learning how ibeatyou works from the programming-side of things, and then quickly whipped out an iPhone-friendly site.  From your iPhone (or iPod Touch), you can login, check out your smack talk, change your battlecry, vote on text and photo competitions and see what your friends are up to as well!

To see the iPhone mobile site, just go to:

http://ibeatyou.com

on your iPhone or iPod Touch.

If you have another type of phone, the mobile site may still work for you.  Just type in:

http://m.ibeatyou.com/iphone.php

in your mobile browser.

• Quiz Comment Notifications and Replies - Many of you had asked for us to get quiz comment functionality up to the same level of how they work with entries.  You can now reply to comments on quizzes and receive notifications whenever anyone comments on a quiz you’ve created or sends a comment reply.
• Text Image Tool - We’ve seen a lot of good images being used for quiz creation and decided to add the same tool used in quizzes to text entries.  Now, whenever you title your text entry, you will see suggested images appear below.  If you see an image you’d like to include with your text entry, just click on it!
