Last summer I went skydiving for the first time with 3 of my cousins. On the drive down one of them jokingly said "if we land 3 out of 4 of us safe, that's not bad". Spoiler alert: I was number 4.
When it was my turn to jump I was ready. I let out a "WOOHOO!" and flew out with my instructor on my back. What followed was the most exhilarating minute of my life. Then he pulled the rip cord. My harness wasn't properly adjusted so instead of cradling me it pulled my legs back and the chest strap came up around my neck. After a brief, unsuccessful period of trying to breathe I passed out. I woke up as we were coming in for our landing to my instructor kicking and screaming at me. I couldn't get my legs up for the landing so we got drug across the ground head first. Got a nice scar on my knee and my thumb was numb for 3 days. I'd love to go skydiving again so I could enjoy the full experience, but I don't really trust those parachutes now.
