Is This... a Date??

True Story-So my friend and I worked as lifeguards at the beach together. We lived a few blocks away from each other and sometimes if it rained, and he rode his bike I would offer him a ride. He was a nice guy but he was one of those guys who was weird just to be weird. He would swim with all his clothes on, drink tequila and water together, grow his hair long just to annoy people, make costumes to wear to formal events kind of weird. One time on our many trips home from work he was asking me about different restaurants I liked to go to. I was telling him how I loved a variety of food but I loved Chinese and Vietnamese food. At the very moment we were passing this Chinese restaurant his friend's parents owned, and he asked "soooooo since you like Chinese and since it's on our way home from work would you like to go on a date with me there this weekend?"
