Look at it this way. Jack liked Kate and Kate liked Jack, but Kate sleeps with Sawyer. When Ana Lucia entered the picture, it felt like she and Jack would get together. But Ana Lucia also has sex with Sawyer. Then there was Juliet. She too felt like she was meant for Jack, but she ended up with Sawyer.

I think that the most important life lesson learned from lost is that kinda shows is tha most atracting to people, therefor make more mony for the produsser and the acters, xD, on the other hand it has a good story ( if it was true)
