The first thing I remember learning when I first went to England was to always say "Please" and "Thank you". I try to always say it when I speak because it's something that is easy to do and doesn't cost a penny, yet it makes the person you speak to feel appreciated and it's just a nice thing to do!  (see more)

I always make sure to hold the door open for people or wait until they grab the door behind me instead of just dropping it on people. Thats rude when people do that to you (see more)

I was taught at an early age to be aware of the presence of women and the elderly. When they are around the use of proper language and etiquettes of opening doors, offering assistance, removing hats, etc are to be observed. I really don't know why it stuck so strongly, but it has, and I don't mind doing it. I have yet to meet anyone who didn't appreciate it and one elderly lady while thanking me remarked that it is rare to see such old time manners these days. (see more)

I don't think there is one specific rule to be followed...I think it's an overall case, of showing RESPECT to the people around you. For example, not interrupting, saying please and thank you, opening the door or giving up your seat for someone who needs it more than you do...They're all little things that make others feel more comfortable around you.
I can't say I care to much about things like, what fork you use and when etc...I'd rather daily manners than "one off" things. (see more)

I've always been taught to say please and than-you all the time and always at dinner now elbows on the table napkin on your lap mouth closed. Always respect your elders. My parents taught me at a very young age lol every time i go to my friends houses i always get complemented on my manners so i'm glad they taught me.One time even my friend told me to stop using my manners because i made them look bad LOL i can't help it its just me  (see more)
