hmmm what would i do? First I would ask her if I could be on the Oprah show. Secondly I would ask her for one thousand dollars. Third, I would ask her if she could hook me up with Tom Cruise xD. Hey Oprah, I think the way you handled that James Frey issue was very telling of the mentality of yourself and your million rolling-pin wielding housewives. First you jump all over his nuts as the redeemed prodigal son, then you demonize him b/c you find out that some aspect of the story was fictionalized. Find me one author in the history of the written word that has not fictionalized something for the sake of the story. the travesty that has been committed is on the part of all the Oprah cronies who are so desperately seeking heroes under every rock, and vicarious redemption at the end of every book. Maybe Frey shouldn't have attempted to write a book at all, if the truth wasn't compelling enough. But who would deny he or anybody the freedom to exorcize whatever demons had lead him to and through the ordeal in the first place? Ah ha! Maybe Oprah was smart enough to realize that she and her audience had been duped, not by falsication of the truth, but by the subsequent and apparently irresistable triteness with which they so whole-heartedly felt the desire to identify with.
