Take Me Away

When I was about 14, my parents told my brother and I to pack our bags, that we were going away.
At that time, a lot of kids here go to a camp to learn Gaeilge and I remember being TERRIFIED that that was in store for me...They told us we weren't leaving Ireland and having assured me that camp wasn't on the cards (at midnight when I was a nervous wreck!!), we assumed we were going down the country for a few days...
The following morning, just before leaving the house, they told us we were going to ROME in Italy!! It was the best surprise!!  (see more)

last summer i went shopping and saw one of my team mates thier he told me he was going to belgiumto play basketballf or another team and that i should phone them up so i did and they were like oh yeh we need somebody like you can you come and play with us in belgium in 2 weeks....was real spur of the moment thing but im glad i went (see more)

When I was in my 2nd year of Culinary School, I was invited to compete against to other students for a six-week internship in a restaurant in France.
Of the two other people, one was kind of a slacker, so I didn't really think he'd be much competition. The other girl, however, was top in our class, spoke fluent French, and had the most amazing work ethic of anyone I've ever met.
After finding out that she was in the running, I prepared myself to congratulate her on the great opportunity. Much to my surprise, (and hers) I was the one the school chose.
I got to spend half my summer cooking with some of the most amazing people I've ever met. (see more)
