competition: Freedom in America
entry: Smoking by Phoenixdadeadhead
Let me first say I quit smoking a few years ago, and I think the smell is disgusting. With that being said, making smoking illegal in bars is wrong. Making a law like this infringes on every1s freedom. Let smoking bans be a choice of the owners, if they don't want smokers in their bar fine, they will lose the smokers, but they will gain my business and that of many other non smokers. At the same time, if an owner prefers to allow smokers that's awesome, I wont go there, but smokers will. Let capitalism dictate, not legislation. This same ideal can and should be applied to many things with 1 exception, children. Making bans on cigarettes in children infested areas is fine, protect the kids, making seatbelt laws for kids is great.
