competition: Made in America - Solve Gang Violence

entry: Life or Incarceration by HipHopuDontStop

Well first off, I'm not sure there is any way to truly SOLVE gang violence, as I believe violence is a human trait that will unfortunately always exist.

However, I also think that more aggressively and PUBLICLY enforcing the RICO Act against street gangs would be a major deterrent for teenagers and younger kids to want to join. If they see everyone they thought were role models to them getting taken away, they might reconsider going down that same road. As a result, gangs themselves would eventually start to fade and that in turn would "solve" gang violence.

As of now, there is no true fear of incarceration from these gangs because they see maybe a handful of fellow members go to jail, but someone else just takes their place and nothing at all ever changes.

I also have to add, stop making these movies/videos glorifying who they are and what they're doing. These are seen by younger eyes and all they see is the money, power & respect these gangs are getting and they want it too

Clearly, you've never been harassed by the Hip Hop Task Force. Too many crime-fighting tools are used to boost numbers and do not positively affect the people they're supposed to serve.

RICO? Seriously? That never ends well. Too easy for it to become a tool used by ambitious prosecutors. See: Rudy Guiliani.
