competition: Best poem to an Olympic athlete (ibeatyou Olympics)
entry: Ode to Phelps by AlaskanVeteran

Throughout the games Phelps endured some doubts,
For his olympic ambitions were so off the scale,
When watching him achieve them we would forget to inhale,
With every swim the records would fall,
The entire World watching,
Mouths gaping in awe
He is amazing in more ways than one,
For after every race was over and done,
His mother would cry proudly over her son,
And no matter how famous Michael may be,
He does not forget to put first family,
And he always returns his mom's smile with appreciation,
For her motherly love is Michael's foundation
From Bagram Afghanistan I send him my congratulations,
He made us proud beyond our wildest imagination,
Michael led the way,
Now go gold, USA!
