entry: CITRUS PEELS!!! and more by sembem

A few years ago it was discovered that citrus peels are an excellent source of energy. Recently processes have been developed to convert up to 10,000 gallons of ethanol at a time. With the amount of citrus peel waste Florida alone puts out in a year (from making products like orange juice), 80 million gallons of ethanol a year could be produced! You're probably wondering the bad side of it. Well there is none. The only other use for citrus peels is to market it off at a low value cattle-feed. If all the other cirtus growing areas did the same with their waste, enough citrus ethanol could be produced for the whole state of Massachusetts!

re: CITRUS PEELS!!! and more
this interest in peels has already tripled the feed cost for cattle.. And they don't even produce anything yet... so it better work, so your 40 dollor per pound hamburger better be worth it
