competition: The most depressing poem
entry: Sonnet from English Class by kayydub
You think the world’s a great place? Yeah, well, take a look around you.
A tortured face looking up with blank eyes,
Dismembered brutally, a corpse, mangled,
A child in infancy meets his demise,
A man on a rope, by neck he dangled.
The innocence of a young virgin child,
Violently stolen by preying perverts,
The gluttonous hunger which drives one wild,
From reason and sanity one reverts.
Crimes and immorality are commit,
Yet the villain walks free, justice unserved,
Victims left in the world to try and fit,
To the cruel abandoning world, unnerved.
Oh, how humans transformed since cavemen days,
For look how we have changed our savage ways.
A tortured face looking up with blank eyes,
Dismembered brutally, a corpse, mangled,
A child in infancy meets his demise,
A man on a rope, by neck he dangled.
The innocence of a young virgin child,
Violently stolen by preying perverts,
The gluttonous hunger which drives one wild,
From reason and sanity one reverts.
Crimes and immorality are commit,
Yet the villain walks free, justice unserved,
Victims left in the world to try and fit,
To the cruel abandoning world, unnerved.
Oh, how humans transformed since cavemen days,
For look how we have changed our savage ways.
