| What is ibeatyou? ibeatyou lets you compete with other people online in anything you want. You can compete with your friends or other ibeatyou users using videos, photos or text that you upload.As you win and do other things on the site, you earn points, all of which get tracked on your user profile (kinda like a baseball card). If you are not up for competing, you can still rate and comment on entries, or just talk smack. back to top How do I win a competition? When you join a competition, you submit an entry using text, photo or video. People rate the entries; the entry with the highest weighted rating at the end of the competition wins. For Record competitions, the person with the highest score wins. back to top What do I win? When a competition ends, the top entrants are awarded extra points. The winner is also awarded a "Beatdown". Pride, some respect, and the right to trash talk...these are some inherent things you also gain. Sometimes, you can win Prizes too! back to top How do points work? Points are a way of rewarding your activity on ibeatyou and tracking how good of a competitor you are. They are updated on a nightly basis.

back to top How do I get awards and trophies? As you rack up different stats, you can unlock awards that show up in your trophy case. Below are some trophies that you can unlock:
Please note that trophy cases are updated nightly. Entries that are fouled out or in group competitions do not count toward trophies. IBY awards, special competition or event trophies that you've won also are displayed in your trophy case. back to top How do I customize my profile skin? You can unlock the ability to customize your profile skin, after you've reached the JV level and have made 5 friends or gotten 5 friends to register. back to top What does 'All Me' mean? means that your entry is original and about you, by you, or features you (or your stuff). These entries are eligible for 2x or 3x bonus (see Points)! back to top What is a Record competition? Record competitions A World Record competition back to top How do I set my height, age and body type? Select Edit Profile on your profile page to edit your personal info. Otherwise, people will think you're a 4 foot tall olympic gold gymnast. back to top I messed up! How do I delete an entry? To preserve the integrity of competitions, there IS NO delete function. If you made a mistake, you can edit your entry or WITHDRAW your entry within 1 hour of submission from your Competitions log. We have a great community and everyone understands that mistakes happen, so your entry will naturally be voted down if you let people know. back to top What are ibeatyou's competition guidelines? The ibeatyou point system is meant to reward people who compete and win fairly. Creating multiple accounts, submitting entries and any other methods used for the sole purpose of gaining points, manipulating scores or collecting votes are considered cheating. Our systems can detect cheating behavior; ibeatyou reserves the right to ban and suspend any users caught cheating. Cheaters will also be subject to a point penalty: 1. 1st offense: 500 points will be deducted 2. 2nd offense: 2,500 points will be deducted 3. 3rd offense: Your account will be disabled, sucka! Unless specified otherwise, competitions have an entry deadline of 3 days, 1 day or 3 hours before the end of the competition. After the entry deadline has passed, the competition enters a "vote only" period. back to top What are flags and fouls? Flags and fouls help us keep competitions fun and fair.
back to top But I didn't cheat and I still fouled out! Many times fouls are called for improper use of 'All Me', described above. Everyone gets fouled out from time to time. When your entry fouls out, pts will be deducted. You can read more about 'All Me' fouls in the ibeatyou blog. Also, please read our competition guidelines. back to top How is the entry rating calculated? Entry ratings are weighted using the Bayesian system. It's nerd-stuff, but basically, it takes into account the entry's average rating plus the number of votes it receives. These votes are compared to all the other entry ratings and their number of votes to give you a weighted rating. This prevents latecomers from winning unfairly over earlier entries. Don't forget, you still need 3 votes for your entry to be valid. back to top What is Turbovote? Turbovote is a way to quickly rate entries. Once you rate an entry, the competition player will automatically proceed to the next entry. back to top How do Groups work? Groups are a fun way to compete with a set of friends with common interests. There are two types of groups, public and private:
A group member can have 1 of 3 roles. Please note that a group must have at least 1 owner.
back to top What are Fave Friends? By selecting your Fave Friends (limit of 25), you will be able to more easily see stuff from specific friends. Currently, you can filter competition invite and shared entry notifications from your fave friends. back to top How do quizzes work on ibeatyou? Quizzes are another way to compete and earn points. When you take a quiz, you can get points, depending on how well you do. You can also create quizzes and share them with your friends (ibeatyou and others), as you get points for EVERY user that takes your quiz. For example, if 100 people take your quiz that you've posted to Twitter or Facebook, you get 100 points! back to top What is an 'About Me' quiz? means that your quiz is about you. For example, questions such as "What is my favorite rock band?" or "What year was I born?" is about you. A question like "What is the capital of Arkansas?" is not about you.back to top What is the ibeatyou IM bar? The ibeatyou IM bar lets you send instant messages and see the online status of your ibeatyou friends. It allows you to send messages to both your online and offline friends. You can visit their profiles directly from your friends list and can even pop out to a Meebo chat room. To send IMs to non-friends, go to their profiles and click the "IM me" button next to their profile photo. You can adjust your online status and IM From Profile privacy settings on the Edit Profile page. From there, you can set whether everyone, your friends/foes only, or no one can see your online status and IM you from your profile page. Linking your Twitter account to your ibeatyou account lets you more easily "tweet" your ibeatyou entries to your friends (hint: handy when you need votes). It also allows you to compete in special competitions directly from Twitter and also makes it easy to share your Picbeat pics with your Twitter followers.
